Aerospace Industry

The WellFlon fluoropolymer extruded film, casting film, PTFE film and PTFE-coated fabric, with and without adhesive properties, are utilised in the fabrication of aircraft composite components. These components include, but are not limited to, helicopter rotor blades, satellite communication and weather radomes, and structural components such as tail sections, wings and wire harness protective insulation.

In the full range of applications, the release properties, mechanical properties and porosity of the product selected are critical factors in determining the performance of the manufacturing process and the quality of the products produced.

Aircraft Composites Manufacturing

WellFlon products are used in the manufacture of composite aircraft components, such as mould release tape and vacuum bagging bleeder cloths. Mould release tape is applied directly to the mould to provide a clean, easy-release surface, while the porous PTFE fabric provides an excellent release surface and is used as breather fabric to allow air and volatiles to escape.

PTFE Radome Cover

Due to its low dielectric constant, low loss tangent and minimal interference with microwave frequencies, WellFlon's high-performance PTFE-coated fibreglass fabric is the ideal material for radome covers for devices such as satellite terminals, portable radomes for VSATs, flexible planar radomes, fly-away satellite communication terminals and microwave communication antennas.

Convoluted Tubes and Wire Wrap Insulation

Thanks to the high dielectric strength of PTFE and the strong mechanical strength of glass fibre, PTFE-coated fabric is an excellent solution for shielding electrical cables and individual components. Furthermore, since PTFE tape or fabric offers abrasion-resistant insulation and a low-friction surface, WellFlon's products can meet the most demanding electrical needs of the modern aircraft industry.
